Assistant Breeder Farm Manager

Location Badwell Ash, Bury St Edmunds
Hours 39 hours per week + overtime

Reporting to Breeder Site Manager, to produce ducks of the best quality as efficiently as possible, whilst ensuring all staff adhere to H&S practices.

KEY TASKS WITHIN THE JOB:

Support the Breeder Site Manager in:-

- the day-to-day running of the site.

- achieving target levels of production (mortalities, rejects, live weights, etc) as efficiently as possible.

- in carrying out a full vaccination programme of all the flocks in rear.

- monitoring and ordering feed as required, through the farms office.

- producing all records required relating to the site in order to provide accurate, up-to-date information.

- monitoring and reporting any required repairs to buildings and machinery to the appropriate people, ensuring the site operates efficiently and safely.

- identifying and delivering training required for any site staff.

- liaising regularly with Breeder Site Manager, and communicate with site staff and colleagues as appropriate, regarding successes and problems to ensure the consistent flow of information.

- carrying out evening checks of the site, and be on call for the environmental alarm, when required.

- monitoring stock control of farm supplies, and raise purchase orders for supplies required, through the farms office.

- maintaining all aspects of company policy on site (as per the Company Handbook)

- ensuring responsiblility for maintaining the health and welfare of the ducks on site.

- managing staff in a positive, professional manner, ensuring they are motivated, informed and working as efficiently as possible.

- carrying out any other tasks relating to poultry farming as the company may reasonably require.

- to work alongside the Breeder Site Manager and the team to ensure all tasks are carried out in a safe and efficient manner.

Previous poultry experience is essential in this role.

Pay rate £9.23 dependent on experience.

Hatchery Manager

We have a new and exciting opportunity for a Hatchery Manager at our hatchery in the Woodbridge area.  This is a full time, salaried position, with the opportunity of accommodation close to the place of work.  The position comes with an attractive salary, as well as an annual company performance bonus scheme.  We operate a well supported and established personal development programme, to support you with further training and accreditation in all areas.

Skills required as follows:-

  • previous hatchery experience (audits, hygiene, bio-security), as well as a strong knowledge in hatchery incubation
  • leadership/management experience (to lead and develop a team of hatchery operatives as well as senior staff) with a view to continuous improvement in all areas of the hatchery
  • Strong communication, within all levels across the business
  • H&S skills (support reduction of accidents, ensure near misses are reported, support assurance in the safety and security of the site)
  • IT skills in producing reports required (detailing all hatchery information/results)

Poultry Handlers

We are currently looking for 3 poultry handler operatives to be based at our Debach site.  Alternative weekly early and late shift operated.

Duties include:- 

  • Work within the team to ensure high welfare practices are maintained at all times.
  • You need to have a calm and good natured temperament.
  • The work involved can be very physically demanding and you therefore should be fit and able to carry out the task.
  • Full driving licence.
  • Work to a high health and safety standard, feeding back any ideas for improvement to the site manager.
  • Maintain and improve on high level of poultry welfare and ensure all bio security guidelines are adhered to.
  • Work closely with line manager and staff on site to ensure all tasks get carried out efficiently and safely.
  • To work with staff in a positive, professional manner and be prepared to support the business in a challenging environment
  • To carry out any other tasks relating to poultry farming as the company may reasonably require.
  • Hours are 39 per week (Mon to Fri).  Weekends will be as and when required according to business needs.
  • Pay rate £8.21 per hour plus a daily catch bonus.  Experience preferred but not necessary, as full training will be given.

Receptionist/PA to Managing Director

Full-time Position  -  40 hrs per week, Mon to Fri 8.30am to 5.00pm (with half hour unpaid lunch break).  This is a new position.  Initial tasks will be to cover the reception desk duties in our new offices.  Duties as follows:-

  • Meet guests/customers in a friendly, professional manner informing staff of their arrival.
  • Answer the reception phone in a professional manner, taking messages and transferring calls where required.
  • Deal with incoming/out-going post, ensuring it is distributed to the correct recipients.
  • As receptionist to ensure the security of the new offices, questioning visitors and checking identification when required.
  • Ensure the reception area, board room and meeting rooms are checked daily to ensure they are tidy, ready for any events.  Any issues concerning cleaning/repairs should be reported to the personnel department so they can arrange for these to be dealt with.
  • Other receptionist tasks as and when required, such as arranging teas/coffees, lunches for events.

Following the new Managing Director joining the business, the tasks will be updated to include PA activities as follows:-

  • arrange meetings on Managing Director's behalf, issuing agendas, taking minutes of meetings etc.
  • arranging travel arrangements,

 


Environmental Manager

Gressingham Foods Ltd is seeking an Environment Manager to be responsible for overseeing the environmental performance of the group to ensure compliance, sustainability and continual improvement.

Reporting To:-  Group Senior Risk Advisor

Key Tasks:-

Meet all reporting deadlines for Environmental permitting, abstraction licensing, pollution inventory and any other statutory reporting.

Manage all Environment Agency site inspections and respond to any outcomes.

Maintain the two MCERT’s for flow certifications through audit hosting and maintenance of the documented EMS.

Oversee efficient waste water treatment operations. Consistently meet discharge consent limits while optimising performance.

Host liaison meeting with local groups as appropriate.

Plan and manage new legislation in a timely manner.

Align the environmental aspects and impacts with the overall business strategy.

Work towards achieving ISO14001.

Devise strategies to meet targets and to encourage best practice

Act as a champion for environmental issues within Gressingham

Provide environmental training to staff at all levels

Required Skills:-

Engage and work with regulators and stakeholders.

 HEALTH & SAFETY MANAGER

Gressingham Foods Ltd is seeking a Health and Safety Manager to be responsible for overseeing the health and safety performance of the factories to ensure compliance, sustainability and continual improvement.

Reporting To:-  Group Senior Risk Advisor

Key Tasks:-

To ensure all new staff including agency workers complete a full company induction.

Develop and maintain task and area specific risk assessments.

Keep up to date all current SSOW in factory units and SOP on Farms (developing and delivering any new ones as required).

Monitor & record all accidents.

Investigate all accidents, identifying all root causes and avoidance measures.

To ensure all relevant staff have continual health surveillance assessments, support the roll-out of assessments with HR representative.

Education and training.

Development of Safety Reps.

Support the security of our sites.

Contractor control.

Work effectively with production management.

Keep up to date with changes to Health & Safety legislation.

Keeping good channels of communication with H.S.E

Assist with the behavioural safety journey.

Required Behaviours:-

APPRENTICE AGRICULTURAL FITTER

OVERALL AIM OF THE JOB: To maintain and repair to the highest standard, all Agricultural equipment and services to Gressingham Farms as safely as possible.

Hourly rate dependent on experience + Plus overtime

As part of the Gressingham group of companies, Green Label Poultry Ltd are looking  for an experienced Agricultural fitter, maintaining, servicing and repairing a range of heavy-duty lifting equipment from FLT, and other types of agricultural machinery.  Ideally this individual will have a farming background, although not a necessity as training/support will be provided.

The role will be workshop, and where required, farms based.  A vehicle is provided to travel to any off site repairs from the workshop.

Key Skills:

  • Experienced and qualified in mechanical systems.
  • Welding and mechanical fitting experience
  • Is very likely to hold a recognised engineering apprenticeship or similar qualification
  • Will possess excellent planning, organisation and time management skills
  • Must possess strong team working and communication skills

Wash Team Operative, Great Ellingham

GREEN LABEL POULTRY LTD ARE LOOKING FOR A FULL TIME WASH TEAM OPERATIVE TO BE BASED AT GREAT ELLINGHAM, WORKING IN THE SUFFOLK & NORFOLK AREA

 HOURS ARE 39 PER WEEK (MON TO FRI) + OVERTIME/WEEKEND WORK AS REQUIRED BY MANAGER 

DUTIES INCLUDE:-

  • To clean all buildings and equipment a high standard.
  • To work to high and health and safety standards.
  • To monitor stock control of chemical supplies, reporting any shortage to your manager.
  • Maintain equipment used.
  • Produce all records required to provide up to date and accurate information.
  • Adhere to all bio security procedures.
  • Work closely with line manager and staff on site to ensure all tasks get carried out efficiently and safetly.

Data Administrator - Farms Office

Job purpose:

The role will support the Farms Admin Manager, Farms Production Managers & Farms Teams to collect, collate, manage and present data from our new Farms Metric System in order to create & run reports as required in line with KPIs, data reports and ad hoc data requests for the Farms Team. In addition, the role requires to support system users with inputting when needed and with system queries.

Key responsibilities:

  • To support (as part of the Farms Team) on development of the new system to ease collection and analysis of data
  • To support the Farms Team to manage data collection and analysis across the service for creation of the KPI reports, quarterly and annual data and performance reports in a timely manner.
  • To monitor all records in conjunction with the Farms Team.
  • To check data and investigate/enquire if it does not look correct.
  • To use the data to create specific reports focusing on performance.
  • Running KPI reports.
  • To provide any other data reports as and when required.
  • To manage, when required, new users of the system.
  • To create and send reports out as required as well as keeping all records up to date.
  • Quality Assurance.
  • Ad hoc duties as and when required.

Qualifications

  • High standard of education – a minimum of 5 passes at GCSE level inclusive of Maths and English & preferably A levels
