Gressingham Advances Green Goals with New Solar Panel Project!

We are just one month into our new solar project which will cut over 670 tonnes of carbon by next year!

Here at Gressingham, we are committed to sustainability initiatives that drives us to improve our environmental performance. Energy usage is always something we are trying to reduce, which can be difficult, but there is certainly always room for improvement.

Our new 3.27MW solar project is one of our biggest moves into reducing our carbon footprint, aiming to provide over a quarter of our energy needs! We’ve teamed up with Centrica Business Solutions to bring 5,100 solar panels to our main processing site in Redgrave, Suffolk.

Last month, construction began and come September, we look forward to being fully operational. In our first year alone, this new project will cut more than 670 tonnes of carbon, which supports our sustainability objectives as we aim to reduce energy and water usage by 5% every year.

Our Head of Health & Safety, Security and Environment, Fiona Wilson shared that “The solar installation provides a substantial portion of our energy needs, reducing reliance on traditional energy sources. The next stage in our ongoing partnership with Centrica Business Solutions will see us continue to strengthen our eco credentials as we look to introduce electric vehicles and chargers. The flexibility of our relationship has allowed us to decarbonise our business more than we ever could have imagined.”

Head of Business Development at Centrica Business, Jean-Yves Cherruault has supported our solar project and encourages other businesses to consider the improvements this can bring:

“Investing in solar isn’t just a commitment to sustainability – it’s a strategic move for long-term cost savings. By harnessing renewable energy, businesses can significantly reduce their energy bills, strengthen their energy resilience and lower their carbon emissions.”

We are always thinking about our energy impact and what we can do to improve ourselves as a business.
