Job Title Quality Assurance Officer
Working Hours Monday to Friday from 05:45am to 14:15pm
1. JOB PURPOSE
To audit and record findings of inspections and report any non-conformances. To support the factory processed and technical functions to ensure product meets the required standards of both Gressingham Foods and Customers.
2. KEY RESULTS AREAS AND PERFORMANCE MEASURES
To check and audit all process documentation to ensure this is completed correctly and in accordance with site quality procedures.
To audit and record findings of inspections and report any non-conformances.
To ensure that any corrective actions are followed up and closed out.
To ensure that products meet customer and Gressingham specifications.
Report all necessary matters to the Quality Assurance Supervisor, ensuring that he/she is fully aware of relevant production, personnel, quality and OV issues.
To undertake such ad hoc duties as may be required in order to benefit the business.
Ensure microbiological testing, water testing and nutritional testing is carried out as routine.
Help ensure staff adhere to stated hygiene and personal hygiene policies.
To audit critical control parameters within the factory processes.
Carry out and assess incoming ingredients, raw materials, factory trials and finished products, to check in line with customer requirements before release to factory or customer.
Check quality and adherence to specification of finished products
Assist in preparation of, and compliance during customer visits and audits within the factory.
Aid in formulation, and training of new and amended procedures training these out to relevant personnel and auditing to ensure these are adopted and followed.
Verify Process Controllers checks are being completed correctly.
Ensure all product adheres to specification on product quality, labelling etc, checking label books and auditing these against factory intakes for mass balance purposes.
Control CCP consumables such as metal detector pieces, scales, probes etc.
To oversee pre-production checks, ensuring all areas are covered.
To check line integrity at start of shift by means of hygiene swabbing and audit of the hygiene process.
To carry out traceability and mass balance checks on meat, packaging and ingredients as required.
To carry out GMP, G&HP and Foreign Body audits, following up any non-conformances and actions required with the necessary teams, reporting any issues which cannot be resolved at the time.
To carry out metal detector fail safe checks in accordance with customer requirements.
To complete background checks on equipment and factory environment to ensure that all comply with requirements, are in good working order and fit for purpose.
3. PRINCIPLE ACCOUNTABILITIES
Reporting to the Quality Assurance Supervisor, the QA is accountable for auditing and reporting product and process non- conformances on a daily basis. He/she is also responsible for ensuring the health & safety and welfare of colleagues working on the shop floor within his/her area, checking equipment is fit for purpose and supporting the Process controllers and line leaders in their role.
The job holder may be required at any time to perform any reasonable task outside the general provisions of this job description in the pursuance of Good Company practice or need.
The job holder may be required, during peak processing times to work extra or different hours or variable shifts to help meet the needs of the business.
The jobholder is required to respect any matter deemed by management as confidential as outlined in the Contract of Employment.
