Kitchen tools for cooking with duck

I want to try cooking with duck, but do I need any fancy cookingequipment?

The simple answer is no! People often think that cooking with duck is a complicated and lengthy process but actually it is really simple. To cook a good duck recipe you will need the following kitchen staples:

Salt and pepper – for seasoning the meat before cooking, the salt helps give an extra crispy skinSharp knife – to score the skin on duck breasts, duck crowns and whole duck before cookingFork or cocktail stick – to prick the skin on duck legs and whole ducks before cookingNon-stick frying pan – to seal the skin on duck breasts and duck crowns before cooking Roasting tin with rack – to cook your duck in the ovenChef’s apron (and hat if you want to channel your inner Michel Roux!)

Needless to say you will already have most of these things in your kitchen anyway and use them on an everyday basis. If you do not have a roasting tin with rack you can always improvise by using a roasting tin with a cooling rack balanced on top! Just take extra care when getting the meat in and out of the oven.
